THE General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) has said that Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport will commence new non-stop flights from the airport to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in 2008.

Located in Songpan County, around 88 kilometres from Jiuzhaigou, Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport currently operates direct flights to Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Kunming and Zhangjiajie. Annual passenger handling at the airport is expected to reach 800,000 by 2010.

The Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport is the closest airport to the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area and Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area, both of which were listed as World Natural Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1992.
