Taiji Eases Parkinson's Effects
[ 2008-1-23 9:29:00 | By: Julia ]

I am a 55-year-old with Parkinson's disease. I was diagnosed two years ago, but looking back at the symptoms, the doctors think I have had it for four years.

I have tremors on my right hand side and some head shake. I have tried many natural products, but on the advice of my neurologist, I started Taoist Taiji and it has helped me the most.

I started the beginner class in January at the Cambridge club and also attend the weekly Health Recovery class in Guelph.

After a two-hour class, my tremors are almost non-existent and there is more control on my right side. Because of this improvement, I do not suffer from depression as much as before.

I am looking forward to joining the continuing class so that I can continue to feel better and in time, be able to show other people with Parkinson's that relief may also be possible for them.

I was glad to hear that the Parkinson's Society is holding a joint open house at all of the Taoist Taiji Society locations in Ontario on April 22 so that the public and others with Parkinson's disease can learn more about the health benefits of Taoist Taiji arts and methods.

I realize that Taiji is not a cure, but it has the potential, as in my case, to help me through my day.

I appreciate the efforts of the volunteer instructors of the Taoist Taiji Society and after seeing what a few weeks of instruction and practice has done for me, I am anxious to see the results over the coming months.
